The world of science fiction literature is always buzzing with new releases, and December 2024 is no exception. While the publishing world tends to slow down during this time of year, there are still some exciting books hitting the shelves that are sure to captivate sci-fi enthusiasts.

One highly anticipated debut is Makana Yamamoto’s novel, described as a “swashbuckling love letter” to Hawai’i. Another notable release is an anthology of short stories by Arthur C. Clarke award-winner Jane Rogers, all centered around climate fiction and the theme of personal responsibility.

For fans of epic graphic novels, the 10-volume adaptation of Cixin Liu’s “The Three-Body Problem” is a must-have. Nominated for the 2024 Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story or Comic, this adaptation promises to be a visual treat for sci-fi aficionados.

One of the most intriguing new releases is a space opera that blends elements of “Ocean’s 8” and “Blade Runner”. Titled “Hammajang”, this novel follows a protagonist named Edie who is tasked with taking down a trillionaire tech god, setting the stage for a thrilling and chaotic adventure.

In the realm of anthologies, “Wild Cards” presents a collection of stories set in a universe where an alien virus grants superpowers to a select few. Edited by George R. R. Martin, this anthology takes place on the fictional island of Keun and promises to deliver a unique and engaging reading experience.

On the romance side of things, a sci-fi romance novel follows Ada on an undercover mission at a charity gala, where she crosses paths with Rian, creating a dynamic and intriguing storyline that will appeal to fans of Becky Chambers and Martha Wells.
